[cw-discuss] Crossover 7 is faster

Based on a few brief tests,

Crossover 7 is significantly faster than 6.2. On 64-bit Fedora 9,
Enterprise Architect started much faster. By much faster, I mean about
twice as fast. It started so fast, I thought something was wrong. Don't
get me wrong, I still wait for things to load and start, but the initial
splash screen appeared almost instantly. I wish I had used a stop watch
before I upgraded. Wow!

Crossover 7 feels faster while running.

Crossover 7 uses fewer resources, or at least I have lower CPU
utilization. I still use 50% to 60% of one of my cores, but it used to
be higher.

Too early to say that everything is awesome in the new 7.0 world, but on
the surface, all I can say is WOW!

Nice to hear - thanks for the note!

And we're hoping to finish some fairly major optimizations sometime this
year, so I'm hoping that we'll be going even faster as the year goes on.

Cheers,

Jeremy

Any eta on when Wine 1.0 will be integrated into CrossOver Games? I use
Fedora 9 and get some strange text blurs with the version of wine
included in CX Games and the Xorg version of Fedora 9 however if I
downgrade the Xorg server to a version seen in previous Fedora releases
the issue is not there. I am not sure if Wine 1.0 has better support for
Xorg 1.4999 or 1.5 rc1 but I am going to test it and if it does I would
like to have the same in CX games

Crossover (6.2 and 7.0) cause a kernel freeze on Fedora 8 with
kernel-2.6.25.4-10.fc8 but works fine with kernel-2.6.24.5-85.fc8.
In 7.0 starting excel - it prints Failed to allocate memory
0x0000 - 0x000100 or somerthing like that - then immediately
machine is totally frozen - power off only way to get back.
I need to bugzilla this with fedora I suppose ?
According to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443552
this kernel bug should be fixed in a recent Fedora update.

The following support article should help with the memory error above:

We're working on an unsupported cxgames build; we hope to push one out
in the next few days (but we need to test it a bit first - tough life,
I know).

The text blurs, I believe, are a Fedora bug, not a Wine one. We haven't
gotten to the bottem of them yet.

Hello,
Has anyone tried Crossover 7 and Quicken Deluxe 2007?
Your best bet is to check the compatibility center:
http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/cat/?app_id=2634

What we tell people though is that it works, and is usable,
but it draws very, very slowly. The slow draw issue is one we're working
on, but it requires a lot of hard work. We hope to have it in a few months.

Cheers,

Jeremy
